Lviv IT Cluster introduces new technologies to high-school students. As a part of the IT Future project, Lviv IT Cluster organized dozens of meetings in towns around Lviv to teach students about the newest technologies and developing IT field in Ukraine.
IT Future is an educational initiative of Lviv IT Cluster which aims to tell high school students about IT industry. The Cluster visits schools in Lviv and the region and talk about the main features of the profession and tries to boost students’ interest in information technologies. The initiative started in 2016 when Lviv IT Cluster first visited schools together with IT professionals. Then, the project was expanding and now includes the regional schools too. In 2017, the Cluster has already visited 22 schools in Lviv Region, in particular, the schools in Chervonohrad, Stryi, Skole, Drohobych, Yavoriv and others.
“It was very useful to visit schools in the region. I didn’t expect that so many students are interested in IT and many of them are really motivated. It is time to choose the future profession for high-school students, so this meeting could play the main role in their decision. I was also surprised to see the students sitting and listening attentively our presentation even during the break”, – said Marta Maksym, Education Manager at Lviv IT Cluster.
The students had a chance to try virtual reality headset and also learned about types of programming languages, competencies needed to work in IT as well as the educational programs at Lviv universities where they can study programming. Lviv IT Cluster plans to visit 8 more schools in the region this year.
