Lviv IT Cluster invited five journalists from the most popular tech media in Europe to visit Lviv in order to promote IT Arena and get acquainted with the IT industry in Lviv and Ukraine. During three days, Lviv IT companies, Lviv City Council and local startups have presented the journalists their achievements, projects, ideas, and discussed perspectives of the IT industry in Eastern Europe.
Lviv is not just a touristic city, but also a city of technology. Last week, five journalists from well-known tech media in Europe visited Lviv. Among them: Mike Butcher from TechCrunch, Andrada Fiscutean from ZDNet, Els Bellens from Belgian media Data News, Diana Vasiliva from Belarus’ biggest IT media Dev.by, and Joanna Sosnowska from Polish media giant WP Tech.
The journalists have visited the biggest IT companies in Lviv – SoftServe, ELEKS and N-iX – to get a glimpse of their latest achievements and projects. SoftServe presented the latest projects of its R&D department and explained how the biggest IT company in Ukraine works, managing over 4500 employees. Development of the IT industry in Lviv not only depends on the IT industry itself but also on the local authorities. Lviv City Council – the first city council in Ukraine with an IT department – is responsible for launching digital solutions in the city. The international journalists were explained how the city develops a creative economy and how it invests in infrastructure to support the creation of business ideas and startups. In the next few years, Lviv City Council plans to revitalize a number of old factories, such as Rema factory, Jam factory, and the tram depot Lem Station.
On the last day of the press tour, the best startups of Lviv presented their innovative products to the journalists. Among them – EdPro Touch, Senstone, Helio Pulse, Brainify, Connect.AXSYS, MagicPost, NEWOLDSTAMP, and StepShot.
The journalists plan to visit Lviv one more time in September for the biggest IT conference in Eastern Europe – IT Arena, which will take place from the 29th of September until the 1st of October.
