Lviv IT Cluster is about to launch three innovative degree programs that will start in September. In addition to 5 already existing innovative programs initiated by the Cluster and IT companies in previous years, there will be three new ones – Bachelor’s Programs in Robotics, Business Analytics & Data Science and CyberSecurity.
Lviv IT Cluster continues to modernize the Ukrainian tech education. Two new degree programs will start this year in Lviv Polytechnic National University – Robotics and Business Analytics & Data Science. The program in CyberSecurity will be launched at Lviv State University of Life Safety. All programs were developed together with IT experts. “Our goal is to have a high-quality education system and this can only be achieved through the cooperation of all the involved sides. That’s why we started to launch new program first at Lviv Polytechnic, then at Ivan Franko National Unversity of Lviv and now also at Lviv State University of Life Safety. – Says Zenoviy Veres, Education Director at Lviv IT Cluster, Solution Architect at SoftServe, teacher at Lviv Polytechnic. It’s a big pleasure, that this time the initiative to start new programs came first from the universities. After the successful launching of our first degree programs, universities are interested and this means that they are ready for big and quality changes in our education system.”
The degree program in Robotics will be launched at Lviv Polytechnic within the Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology, Department of Measuring Information Technologies. Most of the courses are completely new, developed according to the demands of IT market. The program’s goal is to prepare experts who will be able to develop, program and supervise robots, built-in devices, and computerized systems.
“The motivation to participate in developing this program for me was my job, actually. I’m always working with Big Data analytics, AI, built-in and robotics systems on the cutting edge of industry and academics. Therefore, I had a big desire to share my experience and join the transformation of Ukrainian IT education. – Says Yuriy Khoma, Robotic’s Program Lead, Data Science Lead at Sciforce Solutions, teacher at Lviv Polytechnic. The new programs have really made universities closer to the industry and guarantee the alumni’s very good professional opportunities in IT.”
Business Analytics & Data Science at NULP will be launched at Lviv Polytechnic within the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies, Department of Information Systems and Networks. Starting from the third year students will have to choose whether they want to specialize in Data Science (DS), Business Analysis (BA) or Business Intelligence (BI).
CyberSecurity program will start at Lviv State University of Life Safety at the Educational and Research Institute of Civil Defense, Department of Information Security Management. “The department prepares cybersecurity specialists for private structures and departments of The State Emergency Service of Ukraine. The biggest problem is the lack of connections between practical and theoretical knowledge of students at the university and real needs in such cybersecurity specialists of IT companies and other businesses. For now, we have a few courses from economical and technical fields, which are completely not connected to cybersecurity. We want to completely change this program.” – Comments Volodymyr Samotyi, lecturer, Head at the Department of Information Security Management, Lviv State University of Life Safety.
Already in March, Lviv IT Cluster will organize open days for every program, where students will be able to get all the details about the programs, the application process, etc.
Let us remind you, the first Cluster’s innovative program IoT was launched at Lviv Polytechnic in 2016. In 2017 Lviv IT Cluster together with IT experts initiated two more programs – Artificial Intelligence at Lviv Polytechnic and Data Science & Intelligent Systems at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Moreover, two other programs have been modernized- Data Science and Computer Science at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. Right now, 456 students are studying on the Cluster’s degree programs.
