Essential Skills for Entrepreneurs: What They Teach About Negotiation at Harvard Law School

A popular American business book written in the 1980s emphasized what they don’t teach at Harvard Business School, describing «applied people sense». While academic institutions like Harvard Law School might have a reputation for being more academic than practical, the courses in negotiation emphasize skills and real-life applications for all professionals and are used by successful entrepreneurs worldwide. The best selling negotiation book «Getting to Yes» grew out of the Harvard Negotiation Project, and its lessons continue to be applied by effective entrepreneurs today.

UCU Business School invites you on April, 20 at 19:00 to the event “Essential Skills for Entrepreneurs: What They Teach About Negotiation at Harvard Law School” that cover practical skills to help entrepreneurs improve their negotiation results. Attendees will learn how to effectively communicate their ideas, negotiate with confidence, and build strong business relationships. Attendees will leave with an understanding of practical skills that can be applied in real-life business scenarios.

You will find out:

  • What do entrepreneurs negotiate?
  • Essential, practical skills for effective negotiation.
  • Common negotiation mistakes.
  • How to efficiently prepare for any negotiation.
  • When, and how, to walk away .

Participants will discuss that theme with Linda Netsch, founder of Align Consulting and a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School. She has worked extensively with entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley as an advisor with startup incubator Plug and Play Tech Center and as an angel investor with early-stage investment firm Golden Seeds. She provides executive education and consulting services for clients from fields including law, technology, banking & finance, energy, health care, government, and education. She has worked extensively internationally, including Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Mediation and executive coaching are also significant areas of her practice. She currently leads an innovative business unit of a Silicon Valley based law firm.
