On Tuesday, 13th of February, representatives of the IT community in Rivne gathered for a meeting to discuss the launch of local IT cluster. Lviv IT Cluster also participated in the event to support colleagues in Rivne.
There are more than 10 IT companies in Rivne, including regional offices of big Lviv companies. More than 50 attendees from local companies as well as IT specialists discussed the launch of Rivne IT Cluster, following the experience of Lviv IT Cluster.
“This meeting has proved the most important thing – IT community in Rivne is ready for starting the local IT cluster. Rivne has a very strong IT community, the companies know each other, work together, share experiences, support different social and educational projects in the city. In fact, we have moved forward to unification. Our Lviv office of Selecto is a member of Lviv IT Cluster and we already feel all the benefits of this association. I’m glad that my colleagues from Lviv IT Cluster decided to support companies in Rivne in their initiative to build a strong community” – says Yuriy Mamonchuk, CEO, and Co-Founder, Selecto.
Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO at Lviv IT Cluster explained his colleagues from Rivne the functions of the association, as well as shared his insights on creating and implementing various projects in cooperation with both business and the city’s authorities.
“In collaboration with local IT companies, Lviv IT Cluster has launched many successful projects in Lviv – we founded and now annually organize the biggest tech event in Ukraine and Eastern Europe – IT Arena, this year we will start the construction of Innovation District IT Park, we launch new innovative degree programs at Lviv universities, etc. Rivne also has all the chances to develop and progress, thanks to the collaboration of the people with similar interests.” – Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO at Lviv IT Cluster.
The initiative group was created during the event in Rivne to work on the further realization of launching Rivne IT Cluster. The group will have a meeting next week to prepare all the documentation needed for the official start of the association.
“There are already 7 IT companies which will be co–founders of Rivne IT Cluster. I think, during the next ten days, we will have a legally registered organization. For now, Rivne is building its own city development strategy for 2020-2030 years. The intellectual human capital is the base for such strategy and economic development of the whole region. The launch of IT cluster and synergy of local IT companies will only strengthen this strategy. The first task for us will be the promotion of IT industry and IT professionals in the city.” – says Sergiy Gemberg, Mayor’s Advisor on Innovation and City Development.
Most of Ukraine’s biggest cities already have their own IT clusters. Besides Lviv IT Cluster, which is the oldest in the country, there are clusters in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Vinnytsya, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Ivano-Frankivsk.
