Every three months, Lviv IT Cluster members and partners meet to discuss ongoing projects and observe the progress that has already been made. The first General Assembly meeting of 2018 took place last week. Even though the year has just started, Lviv IT Cluster already boasts a number of achievements.
Lviv IT Cluster continues to grow and gather new members. During the first months, six IT companies have joined Lviv IT Cluster. They were officially welcomed during the Cluster’s General Assembly meeting. Among them – Edunav, Botscrew, Lemarbet, Startokay, WebdreamLab, IT Prosteer and Seven.
Education
From the very start of 2018, Lviv IT Cluster together with IT companies continues to modernize tech education by launching new degree programs that would meet the requirements of the fast-changing technology world and job market. This year the Cluster is going to launch four new degree programs: Robotics, Business Analysis & Data Science, Cybersecurity at Lviv Polytechnic and Cybersecurity at Lviv State University of Life Safety. In addition, Lviv IT Cluster has organized Open Days for three programs in March, and four more Open Days will be held in April. Currently, the Cluster is trying to involve more IT professionals who could become mentors of the innovative programs. 50 mentors have already been found.
In March, a modern IoT Lab opened at Lviv Polytechnic for the students of the IoT program. The lab was created thanks to PLVision, SoftServe, Ciklum, and Cypress, which financially supported the project. Among other sponsors also are Eleks, Sombra, KindGeek, Vakoms, V.I.Tech, Lohika,
GlobalLogic, Intellias, N-iX, Conscensia, Perfectial, Vector Software.
Promotion
Last year Lviv IT Cluster has launched a new ambitious project – ITID Lviv, the magazine about Lviv IT industry aimed to promote the city as an IT hub with great potential and comfortable conditions for business. The third issue of the magazine was released in March and will be distributed in more than 80 locations around the city – IT companies, as well as the best restaurants, hotels, and cafes.
Moreover, Lviv IT Cluster continues to work with an online media The Ukrainians. Last year the Technology of Success project was launched and 10 interviews with successful Ukrainian IT leaders were published. This year three new interviews have already been published.
Events
Lviv IT Cluster is known for its tech events in the city. We’ve started to work on the next IT Arena, the biggest tech event in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. IT Arena 2018 will take place on September, 28-30, and it is excepted that the event will be visited by an ambitious number of participants (2500+) and speakers (80+). This year an additional stream will be added to the conference – Startup Stream. The Startup Stream will bring together successful entrepreneurs, startuppers, representatives of startup incubators, etc.
Іnfrastructure
IT House, the first Cluster’s infrastructure project was officially presented to the public last month. The construction of the next and the biggest project Innovation District IT Park will start in the end of the year. Investors and partners of the project are going to attend the foundation stone-laying ceremony in the summer.
The new land plot for the next project IT Village was found in Malechkovychi village near Lviv. The construction of IT Village, a series of cottages for IT specialists might also start in 2018.
Other projects
IT Club, the loyalty program for IT specialists increases the number of its partners constantly. For now, there are 630 partners in the program, 12300 participants and 4200 IT Club app’s users. Moreover, IT Club will soon launch in other Ukrainians cities.
Lviv IT Cluster has launched the Lviv IT Cluster Portal, a platform with useful information, presentations, etc. for all member companies. The platform gives an opportunity to communicate between all Cluster members.
