IT Jet

We destroy air travel barrier between Lviv and the rest of the world

IT Jet – is a project of Lviv IT Cluster which aims to improve city’s infrastructure and increase the number of flights between Lviv and other important business destinations. In order to do it,  the Cluster organized a research which identifies how often employees of IT-sphere go on business trips and which destinations are the most popular. Having direct flights to/from Lviv is an important criterion for conducting comfortable business. Research results and rapid growth of the industry should become an extremely significant reason for airline companies to introduce more flights to popular destinations in USA, UK, and Europe.

Route network of Lviv International Airport consists of 30 international destinations. These are a few cities in Europe and resort destinations such as Turkey and Egypt. There is no direct connection with the USA, as well as with many other European cities. As a result, even a trip to neighboring countries can take all day. If IT specialists are able to fly from Lviv to one of the European cities and still have time to work that day, it would mean that IT Jet has achieved its goal.

Aim of the project – to increase the number of flights between Lviv and cities abroad for employees of IT companies. We hope that new airlines will be invited to Lviv and this will make it truly open to the world.

CEO & Co-Founder at N-iX, Lviv IT Cluster Chairman

"98% of Lviv IT companies clients are located abroad. Working with foreign clients requires appropriate conditions. One IT employee flies abroad to visit a business partner at least once per year. However, in Ukraine, a simple business trip can take up the whole day. Even though Lviv has a developed infrastructure and a good airport, the city has a very limited flight network. That is why, Lviv IT Cluster has decided to work on the expansion of flights in Lviv."

Andriy Moskalenko
Deputy Mayor for the Development, Lviv City Council

“The passenger traffic flow of Lviv International Airport has increased by 30-40% compared to the last year. We have recently opened a number of new destinations and also we are in the middle of negotiations aimed at attracting low-cost airlines and expanding flight network with maximum bonuses from the airport and the city. Moreover, Lviv has applied for holding the two biggest conferences of air carriers – Routes and Connect. A large percentage of those who come to these conferences, then make deals on flights. This will help to develop business, including IT. Business does not have any specific limit and requires the biggest possible amount of travel”

Stepan Veselovskyi
Lviv IT Cluster, CEO

"The small number of flights definitely negatively affects IT Industry in Lviv since it decreases mobility. And the question here is not the ticket price (even though it is equally important), but the amount of time the flight takes. If a person can fly from Lviv to London and still have time for work – that will be a win. Right now, this distance takes up the whole day. Our goal – is comfort. We want to enable getting to key markets faster. In order to achieve this we need either better connection with transport hubs or direct flights. We started with the study to find out what is the proportion of flights taken by company representatives and their partners in the total air travel structure of Lviv. This is needed because we want to show airlines the market, which is already large enough and the prospects for its growth."

Tetiana Romanovska
Director at Lviv Airport

"IT Jet - is a promising project and will definitely facilitate the expansion of air travel. Lviv International Airport is interested in expanding the geography of flights and is ready to provide information support to this project, as well as, interact with the organizers."
