Despite the ongoing war, education continues without interruption. 4,500 students continue to study at 18 updated Bachelor’s programs at 4 universities in Lviv: Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv State University of Life Safety, and Lviv National Academy of Arts.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

We adapted the curriculum, so that students focus on getting knowledge corresponding to the needs of the industry from their first day of study. For example, second-year students at the Cybersecurity program of Lviv Polytechnic, together with mentors from IT companies, worked on their own projects during the last academic semester. Among the students\u2019 developments are: data encryptors, password managers, websites for tourists and internally displaced people, and for students. Let’s explore some of them in more detail.<\/span><\/p>\n

CooKey: hides your passwords away from outer eyes<\/b><\/p>\n

CooKey is a password manager that has implemented the functions of saving existing passwords and generating new ones based on various parameters.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPasswords are easily forgotten. Writing down your passwords in a separate file or notebook can result in third parties accessing important information and personal data. However, the password manager relieves users of this stress and ensures safe access to any of their accounts,\u201d <\/span><\/i>says <\/span>Ivan-Yulian Plyatsushok<\/b>, Designer of the project team.<\/span><\/p>\n

The app was developed to respond to the needs of the present time and differs from all existing competitors. It contains a \u201cfake password\u201d feature that might be useful for people in occupied territories, as the occupiers may check phones while passing checkpoints or even on the street. For example, if Russians find some pro-Ukrainian publications or evidence of support for the Armed Forces on their mobile devices, the person may lose their freedom, health, and even their life.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe app allows the user to enter a backup password master and go to a fake page with false passwords. This way, users can potentially protect their data,\u201d<\/span><\/i> says <\/span>Anastasiia Boiko<\/b>, Backend Developer of the project team.<\/span><\/p>\n

CipherTool: Encrypts your data<\/b><\/p>\n

CipherTool is a project created to improve the accessibility of file transfer security in networks. The students who developed it say the tool will help protect both large companies and individual users from data leaks.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe program operates as follows: the user chooses a password and encryption method. Then, they can send the file or keep it for themselves. To decrypt the document, the recipient only needs to ender the key, and the received file will match with the original,\u201d <\/span><\/i>says <\/span>Danylo Volkov<\/b>, Team Lead of the project.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tool, created by students, is incredibly relevant. Data leaks happen daily, and even such giants as Twitter suffer from them. In December 2022, it was reported that the company suffered a data leak. Hackers stole the email addresses of more than 200 million users and posted them on a forum.<\/span><\/p>\n

In six years, the Lviv IT Cluster, together with partners, succeeded in updating 18 Bachelor’s programs at four local universities: Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv State University of Life Safety, and Lviv National Academy of Arts.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
