Сluster’s General Assembly Meeting: Q2

Every three months, Lviv IT Cluster members and partners meet to discuss ongoing projects and observe the progress that has already been made. The second General Assembly meeting of 2018 took place last week. 

Lviv IT Cluster continues to grow and gather new members. In the last 3 months, 11 new companies have joined the largest Ukrainian IT community. Among them – Dev-Pro, Goldweb Solutions, Echo.UA, Edpro, Exadel, Gigacloud, Probegin, Intetics, Redtag, Binariks, TRM Solutions. One more official partner has also recently joined the Cluster – IT Assistant.



From the very start of 2018, Lviv IT Cluster together with IT companies continues to modernize tech education by launching new degree programs that would meet the requirements of the fast-changing technology world and job market. This year the Cluster is going to launch four new degree programs: Robotics, Business Analysis & Data Science, Cybersecurity at Lviv Polytechnic and Cybersecurity at Lviv State University of Life Safety. In addition, in the second quarter of 2018 Lviv IT Cluster has organized 7 Open Days for its undergraduate programs. Currently, the Cluster is trying to involve more IT professionals who could become mentors of the innovative programs. More than 50 mentors have already been found. Moreover, the work on 2 innovative labs at Lviv universities (IoT lab at Lviv Polytechnic National University; Data Science lab at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv) continues.  

The new season of another education project of Lviv IT Cluster – IT Future has come to end end. The Cluster visited 50 schools in Lviv and 20 in Lviv regions with promo lectures about the IT industry and career opportunities it offers. According with the survey, conducted during the study visits, 82% of high school students are interested in information technologies.Закінчився новий сезон ще одного освітнього проект Кластеру – IT Future

The award ceremony of IT Challenge, an annual IT competition for students, took place in May. As the prize the winner got 10 000 UAH certificate from Lviv IT Cluster and his school will receive a new computer lab equipment. Other three participants with the best results, received certificates for courses in LITS and Logos IT Academy.


Last year Lviv IT Cluster has launched a new ambitious project – ITID Lviv, the magazine about Lviv IT industry aimed to promote the city as an IT hub with great potential and comfortable conditions for business. The fourth issue of the magazine was published in June and will be distributed in more than 80 locations around the city – IT companies, restaurants, hotels, and cafes. The new issue is devoted to music and technologies as it was released during one of the most famous jazz festivals in Europe – Leopolis Jazz Fest. 

Moreover, Lviv IT Cluster continues to work with an online media The Ukrainians. Last year the Technology of Success project was launched and more than 10 interviews with successful Ukrainian IT leaders were published. In the last 3 months, two new interviews have already been published.


Lviv IT Cluster is known for its tech events in the city. We’ve started to work on the next IT Arena, the biggest tech event in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. IT Arena 2018 will take place on September, 28-30, and it is excepted that the event will be visited by an ambitious number of participants (2500+) and speakers (80+). This year an additional stream will be added to the conference – Startup Stream. The Startup Stream will bring together successful entrepreneurs, startuppers, representatives of startup incubators, etc.

Intellias, a Lviv-based company has joined IT Arena co-organizers this year – Lviv IT Cluster, EleksStartup DepotLITS. The company will work on the speaker lineup to help bring the best experts from certain technology domains.


An annual conference Lviv IT Jazz took place on June 28-July 1 within Leopolis Jazz Fest. Representatives of the Ukrainian IT community, government officials, and investors discussed cooperation with public administration and investments in IT. Jonathan Woetzel, one of the world’s greatest economists and director of McKinsey Global Institute, became the keynote speaker of the conference. In 2018, Lviv IT Cluster has joined Leopolis Jazz Fest as an exclusive partner.


Innovation District IT Park, the largest infrastructure project of Western Ukraine, worth $ 160 million, was launched on June 30. The groundbreaking ceremony was hosted by the consortium of partners: project’s initiators Lviv IT Cluster and Galereja Centre, as well as investment companies Brookfield & Partners and Horizon Capital.

IT Village is to become a new village for IT professionals and a community of people with common interests. The complex of 17 hectares in total will consist of 133 separate houses in Nahoryany, 9 km away from Lviv. Among houses, there are 5 different projects of different size and design. For the inhabitants’ comfort, the territory will be guarded 24/7 will include a recreational area, children’s playground, and a private park. A kindergarten and a supermarket will be located nearby.

Other projects

IT Club, the loyalty program for IT specialists increases the number of its partners constantly. For now, there are 650 partners in the program, 13 500 participants and 5300 IT Club app’s users. Moreover, IT Club will soon launch in other Ukrainians cities.

Within the legal department of Lviv IT Cluster, more than 50 consultations were provided to member-companies. In addition, one meeting of IT Law Committee took place.
