On Thursday, August 3, Lviv IT Cluster gathered all its members and partners for a general meeting in the open air location Prostir. During the meeting, the Cluster presented all the recently launched projects as well as talked about everything that was done during the last six months.
During the last months, Lviv IT Cluster did almost impossible – finished the launching of four new educational programs: Artificial Intelligence at Lviv Polytechnic, Data Science & Intelligent Systems at the Faculty of Electronics at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Data Science and Computer Science programs at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics at LNU. Within the IT Future project, Lviv IT Cluster members have visited 38 schools in Lviv and the region to promote IT education among students. In May, the Cluster chose the winner of IT competition IT Challenge, an awarded him a 10 000 UAH scholarship as well as installed a new computer class at his gymnasium.
Also in May, the Cluster implemented one of its most adventurous projects – Lviv IT Tour. Together with the experts from IT companies, Lviv IT Cluster team traveled 3000 km around Ukraine visiting the biggest cities. The Cluster organized meetups with IT specialists and presentations of the Cluster’s projects in Vinnytsia, Odesa, Mariupol, Dnipro, Mykolaiv, and Kharkiv.
In June, Lviv IT Jazz conference, organized by the Cluster, took place during the biggest jazz festival Alfa Jazz Fest. International investors and CEOs together with government officials discussed the development of IT industry in Ukraine, creative economy and Lviv as a creative city. During the second day of the conference, there was a presentation of the future Innovation District IT Park, the construction of which will start this autumn.
The Cluster has also presented a new project – IT ID Lviv, a magazine about the IT industry in Lviv. The magazine will be published every three months and aims to introduce Lviv not only as a touristic place but also as a tech city. In the magazine, you can find interviews with IT experts who work in Lviv as well as highlights of the projects implemented by Lviv IT Cluster. It will be possible to get the magazine in the IT company offices, Lviv hotels, and restaurants.
One more project the Cluster has recently launched is called “Technology of success”. It’s a series of interviews with Lviv IT company CEOs done in collaboration with the online magazine The Ukrainians. 7 interviews have been conducted already with 3 of them officially published.
Last month, Lviv IT Cluster started to make a new research of the IT market in Lviv IT Research, which will upgrade the current data about IT companies working in Lviv and the number of IT employees, which is constantly growing. IT Research will also show how the IT industry influences other areas in the city, where IT companies invest their money, etc. The results of the survey will be completed by the end of November.
Now, Lviv IT Cluster is working on the biggest project – IT Arena, the biggest tech conference in Eastern Europe, which will take place from 29th of September until 1st of October. More than 20 speakers have been already announced. The call for startups and Tech Expo is now open. Moreover, in July Lviv IT Cluster invited journalists from the main tech media in Europe (TechCrunch, Data News, WP Tech, dev.by, ZDNet) for a press tour in Lviv aimed to promote IT Arena and the IT industry in the city in general.
Lviv IT Cluster also welcomes a new member – Infopulse Ukraine.
