Who is a Data Science professional?

A Data Scientist is an expert with excellent mathematical and analytical skills. Their primary responsibilities involve handling data from diverse origins, including the tasks of data collection, organization, extraction, and synthesis. Their key objective is to derive meaningful conclusions and make informed decisions based on the data they have gathered.

A Data Scientist constantly seeks the perfect formula for training Artificial Intelligence. For example, thanks to Data Science, self-driving cars, personalized interfaces, the IBM Watson medical system, Aliexpress, Amazon, and Netflix have been created.

About the program

The Data Science bachelor’s program at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv is a collaborative effort of two departments: Mathematical Modeling of Socio-Economic Processes and Optimal Processes Theory. This program prepares highly qualified specialists who can proficiently develop and utilize modern data handling methods.

This innovative Data Science program was developed through a partnership involving university representatives and tech experts from leading companies within the Lviv IT Cluster community with the aim of bridging the gap between theory and practice and preparing students to meet the challenges of the job market. The program’s educational methodology emulates the working environment within tech companies, with students actively involved in project development under the mentorship of experienced industry professionals. Moreover, students have the opportunity to enhance their soft skills throughout their studies.

Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematical Modeling of Social and Economic Processes, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv
Today, the effective functioning of any organization and its ability to respond to current challenges involves continual management of vast datasets. To accomplish this, systems are deployed to provide professionals with constant access to the most up-to-date and comprehensive information on various processes and phenomena. This empowers them to analyze, forecast, and address complex, multi-dimensional problems in decision-making. Our educational program focuses on training graduates for modeling, designing, and developing such systems.
