Data Science and Intelligent Systems (Statistical Data Analysis)
A Data Scientist is an individual with exceptional mathematical and analytical skills. They are responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from diverse sources. The primary duty of a Data Scientist is to draw conclusions and make well-informed decisions based on the gathered data. Data Science operates at the intersection of mathematics, statistics, computer science, business, and economics. Consequently, a proficient expert should have expertise in all these domains.
Experts in the field of Intelligent Systems develop specialized computer systems that are fully integrated inside controlled devices. These systems are designed to perform a limited set of functions and can range in size, from small devices like digital watches to large-scale applications such as traffic lights, manufacturing control devices, or nuclear power plant management systems.
The program was developed by representatives from the Lviv IT Cluster member companies and Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The program encompasses the following areas:
In the first year of the program, students study foundational courses needed for all directions: Advanced Mathematics, Discrete Mathematics, Algorithms and Data Structures, Programming, and Object-oriented Programming. Additionally, starting from the first year of studies, students learn to collaborate in teams alongside experienced mentors on joint projects.
During the second year, students can choose one of the program’s directions and delve into specialized subjects, further refining their knowledge in their chosen field through practical classes.
