Abto Software is “Veteran Friendly”: The Company Received an Award from Veteran Hub

A year and a half ago, the IT company Abto Software began actively developing the topic of corporate support for former military personnel. During the implementation of key innovations, Veteran Hub experts have repeatedly provided us with advice on the re-adaptation of veterans to civilian life, and recently we received the “Veteran Friendly” award.

The title of veteran-friendly company is awarded by Veteran Hub after careful monitoring. A company applying for this award must have a pro-Ukrainian position and respect for veterans’ experience, be interested in hiring veterans, and places of work must be adaptable. According to the company, these requirements are quite objective. Abto Software is sincerely glad that the company meet the mentioned criteria.

It should be emphasized that Abto Software attributes patriotism to its corporate values. The company systematically helped the Ukrainian army even before the Russian full-scale invasion in February 2022, has its own charitable foundation to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and regularly supports various charitable initiatives and fundraisers of colleagues. Over the 17 years of our existence on the market, the company had managed to gather like-minded people, so employees are sincerely interested in creating a favorable environment for defenders. Abto Software regularly organize thematic events to develop the skills of tolerant interaction with military people. Therefore, any area of work related to the expression of patriotism is organic for them.

Abto Software has its own veterans’ reintegration program. This program exists not only in theory. Two practical cases have confirmed its effectiveness. Two veterans who returned to the office took advantage of additional corporate benefits and worked with mentors. Based on the results of these cases, the program received positive feedback. Both veterans started working on commercial projects a month after their return.

As part of the veterans’ reintegration program, they have also created a knowledge library on the corporate social network Workplace, which contains all the information veterans need. This database is constantly updated in accordance with the law.

The office of Abto Software has undergone significant changes over the past year. In order for the building to meet inclusivity standards, most of the doors, including the entrance, had to be replaced. Repair improvements are still ongoing.

“We still have a lot of work to do in this area, but we are ready and the company’s management supports us in this,” — summarizes Victoria Filtseva, Head of HR Department.

Abto Software hopes that their story will inspire other companies to become more open to the changes that are important today. Supporting veterans is not a field for competition, but a field for sharing experiences. Abto Software is happy to share the details of implementations, in particular, they recently wrote all the components of the program in an article on DOU and recalled the history of its creation from the beginning. The company will also be happy if others learn from their experience, because they are all working towards a common goal. In this context, caring for veterans should be a new social norm.
