Air Command West Receives the First Five Anti-Shahed Drone Vehicles

On November 28, the Lviv IT Cluster community delivered first five vehicles to Air Command West as part of the Shahedbusters project: pickup trucks equipped with night vision, thermal imaging, and searchlights. The initiative received support from over 50 association’s member companies.

In addition to the vehicles, the Air Command West has received a substantial donation worth over UAH 4,000,000, including thermal imagers, power banks, tablets, laser pointers, and searchlights. These equipped vehicles will significantly bolster the protection of critical infrastructure in the region against enemy UAVs. The Lviv IT Cluster community’s generous initiative plans to donate a total of ten vehicles for this purpose.

“The cornerstone of this project lies in the deployment of automated turrets, which are slated for installation on ten vehicles in the long run, representing a significant investment. In the near future, our community intends to contribute an additional five vehicles, with some of them already featuring these advanced turrets. This strategic enhancement aims to bolster our ability to detect, capture, and autonomously eliminate airborne enemy targets, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of our mobile fire teams,” says Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO of Lviv IT Cluster.

The total cost of the Shahedbusters project is UAH 30,000,000. The implementation of the project’s first stage became possible thanks to the support of more than 50 member companies of the Lviv IT Cluster community.

“Business does not live separately from war and assistance to the military. Supporting this project is a contribution to the region’s security, the smooth operation of all sectors of the economy, and more effective protection of our skies,” adds Orest Blazhyievsky, co-founder of Technika for Business.

The implementation of the second phase of the Shahedbusters project reaches a total investment of over UAH 17,000,000. We encourage Lviv IT Cluster member companies to join this initiative, further enhancing the effectiveness of our region’s air defense forces. The Shahedbusters project is an integral component of the Lviv Military Administration’s larger initiative to establish specialized mobile brigades tasked with safeguarding the critical infrastructure of the region against potential attacks by enemy UAVs.

“I am grateful to the Lviv IT Cluster and its members for their support of this initiative and their dedication to discovering innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency of our military forces. These vehicles will continue to serve in the Lviv region, fortifying the efforts of our air defense and standing as vital assets. Thanks to Lviv IT Cluster for your steadfast leadership in assisting and advancing such crucial projects since the onset of the full-scale war,” says Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

The inspiration behind this project draws from the Ghostbusters movies, in which heroes came together to combat a seemingly insurmountable problem. In the context of this war, our military is adeptly addressing Ukraine’s primary challenge, and the Lviv IT Cluster is steadfastly supporting them in their area of expertise – technology and innovative solutions.
