“Backpacks of Life 2.9”. EPAM and Leleka announce continuation of the project

To commemorate 20 years of operation in Ukraine EPAM together with the Charitable Fund Leleka is going to hand over to the military medics 10 million hryvnias worth of tacmed. The partners intend to attract additional financing with the help of colleagues, ambassadors of the “Backpacks of Life 2.0” project and the public.

Last year EPAM allocated 300 thousand dollars (about 12.6 million hryvnias) for purchasing tacmed for the Ukrainian defenders. This allowed packing 300 backpacks with the necessary medical supplies. Another 40 backpacks were bought thanks to the additional activities within the project and the support of ardent Ukrainians. Each backpack helps save up to 10 lives of the military and civilians.

This year EPAM allocates another 10 million hryvnias to carry on with the project. The first tranche enabled the purchase of 40 fully packed backpacks. The contents of a basic backpack includes tourniquets, occlusive stickers, hemostatic bandages, bandages, nasopharyngeal airway tubes, thermal blankets, paramedic scissors, stretchers, etc. When we’re talking about quality, we don’t always mean only foreign suppliers. Today some part of backpacks consists of the products by Ukrainian manufacturers in accordance with modern standards. The military medics themselves are consulting on the development of the supplies” – Iryna Huk, the fund’s director, shared with us.

“Due to the full-scale invasion the healthcare system is experiencing significant strain. To save lives, to prevent negative impact on the health of a wounded military, to alleviate the pressure on the system of medical institutions in the country – these are only several main goals of the project “Backpacks of Live 2.0”, says Dmytro Yakymets, the manager of ESG projects at EPAM Ukraine.

Besides the financial support, EPAM and Leleka fund will also cooperate in bringing awareness of the fact that high quality tacmed is of utmost importance, and in organizing the relevant training in pre-medical assistance. By telling the stories of the military medics the partners strive to raise public awareness of the heroic work the medics do at the front line and the importance of providing them with all that is necessary to save lives.
