GlobalLogic’s specialists introduced innovative developments in the field of medicine at the international forum UNBROKEN in Lviv. Ukrainian engineers are involved in the projects of the leading medical companies, which hold 10% of the global healthcare market.
The forum included an exhibition of innovative rehabilitation equipment, namely more than 40 models of foreign and Ukrainian production: bionic prostheses, robotic walking systems, exoskeletons, robotic gloves, organism mobilization systems, etc.
Thus, the developments of GlobalLogic’s Ukrainian engineers include patient’s condition monitoring system via cloud services. This system allows for collecting the patient’s data and transferring it to the cloud storage automatically, wherefrom it could be delivered to the hospital’s medical system. This technology allows for optimization of data collection and avoids mistakes that arise due to manual data input. At the same time, it doesn’t require much costs and replacement of the old equipment.
Besides, Ukrainian engineers develop software for the blood donation equipment already used by 70% of the Western market. This device allows for the control of the blood donation process, making it safe.
Another technology, developed with involvement of Ukrainian IT-specialists, are intelligent defibrillators. Engineers create software for devices, which conduct the primary diagnosis of patients and determine the need for a defibrillator. It is crucially important, since during the defibrillation procedure the human body receives a stream with a voltage of 4000 to 7000 W. This is traumatic, so it is contraindicated to provide it out without extreme need. During the last few years, engineers also helped to develop a new generation of defibrillators for special services, like military and police in particular. These devices are designated for use at hard to reach places, for example, for a helicopter mission or usage in a service car.
“Working in the medical field and creating healthcare technologies is a great contribution to improving people’s lives and, at the same time, great responsibility, since your code, a product developed by the team, affects the patient’s quality of life and health directly. The trust in our engineers in the medical sphere testifies to the Ukrainian IT specialists’ high qualification and expertise.” — notes Ihor Kostiv, Associate Vice President, Engineering at GlobalLogic.
A new Allbionic’s development was also introduced at the forum — bionic hand prosthesis which helps to restore human possibilities after amputation. This prosthesis uses special sensors for reading commands from a user’s hand muscles and allows them to do different movements. Allbionics.ai implements 3D technologies to scan extremities to elaborate individual fasteners and prostheses that suit every patient, considering his anatomy. This should assure comfort and high quality of life for people faced with the loss of a limb.
GlobalLogic engineers joined this humanitarian project: they developed a management system to control and set up the prosthesis and introduced machine learning algorithms for the control and execution of commands from person to prosthesis.
Such projects complement the enormous contribution made by Ukrainian engineers in the development of innovative medicine both in Ukraine and the whole world.
