Registration is closing for the Ukraine Innovation and Engineering Lab in Lviv—a 10-week engineering program organized by the National University “Kyiv Aviation Institute” (KAI) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in partnership with Skyfall.

Participants will work on real-world technological challenges faced by Ukrainian companies—from finding solutions to building and testing a working prototype.
The program has already launched in Kyiv, where 10 teams have begun working on engineering projects. Now the initiative is expanding to Lviv, opening up opportunities for students, engineers, developers, and young tech professionals in the western region.
The Ukraine Innovation and Engineering Lab is based on an MIT course adapted to the Ukrainian context. It is grounded in the principle of “learning by doing”—that is, learning through practice.
Instead of traditional academic assignments, participants will receive real-world technology case studies from Ukrainian companies. Over the course of 10 weeks, teams will go through the full engineering development cycle: from problem analysis and solution design to prototype creation and testing.
Key technology areas:
The program plans to involve more than 40 experts in working with the teams. The training includes weekly in-person sessions in Lviv, hands-on work in laboratories, and mentoring support.
The program’s author and developer is Gene R. Keselman, senior lecturer at the MIT Sloan School of Management, executive director of MIT Mission Innovation Experimental (MIx), and managing director of MIT Proto Ventures.
The program director is Radmila Segol, Vice Rector for Admissions and Online Education at KAI and an MIT Global At-Risk Fellow for 2026–2027.
The program is implemented by KAI and MIT in partnership with Skyfall, with support from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Lviv City Council, in collaboration with NDA Recruitment, Sine Engineering, Warbirds, and Frontline Robotics.
These companies provide engineering case studies, share their expertise, and help participants develop solutions that can be implemented in practice.
The program is scheduled to begin in November 2026. After selection, participants will be grouped into interdisciplinary teams to work intensively on technological solutions.
In February 2027, the teams will present their results at the final Demo Day in Kyiv. The most promising projects may be further developed in collaboration with partner companies.
The program is open to upper-level undergraduate students, graduate students, engineers, developers, and professionals with experience in programming, AI, robotics, electronics, and related technology fields.
Participation is free for candidates who pass the selection process.
Registration is closing! This is your last chance to join a program that combines MIT methodology, expertise from the Ukrainian tech industry, and hands-on work on engineering solutions.
