Uklon and the Lviv City Council have signed a memorandum of cooperation and interaction. Within the framework of the memorandum, they agreed on four main strategic directions for joint work to improve urban logistics and transport solutions, economic inclusion and accessibility, and the development of the educational sector for technology and IT.
Uklon will transfer depersonalized geographical, statistical, and analytical data on movement within the city to the Lviv City Council to improve road safety and transport solutions. This analysis will make it possible to identify problem areas, forecast traffic jams and loads on certain streets, pinpoint peak hours, and consequently, make informed decisions. Tens of thousands of trips are made daily with Uklon in Lviv, providing significant data on city movement.
“Cooperation with Uklon opens up new opportunities for the city in using data for decision-making. The service’s depersonalized data will help us better understand real transport flows, identify the most congested areas, increase road safety, and plan more effective transport solutions. It is important that Uklon’s data covers the entire street network of the city, including those sections where public transport routes do not run. This allows us to see the full picture of movement in the community, supplement it with public transport data, and form a more comprehensive understanding of urban traffic,” noted Olena Hunko, Deputy Director of the Economic Development Department for Digital Transformation (CDTO).
In addition, the Lviv City Council, together with Uklon, will work to strengthen economic inclusion and the development of the self-employed market, including through programs for male and female veterans of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and increasing the number of women drivers in the service, etc. They will also work on developing inclusion and accessibility in the city, specifically by deepening cooperation within the framework of the Uklon Inclusive project, so that even more people in wheelchairs can move around the city safely and comfortably.
The memorandum also outlines cooperation in developing the IT and technology sector, creating educational opportunities, exchanging experience, and other projects aimed at student communities.
“We are pleased to join the Lviv City Council’s initiative and expand our strategic partnership with new verticals of cooperation. Uklon is a technology business that develops urban mobility, logistics, and contributes to the development of the self-employed market. We sincerely believe that our cities should be comfortable, accessible, and inclusive, and this initiative is another step in that direction,” commented Serhiy Hryshkov, CEO of Uklon.
It should be noted that this is not the first cooperation between the Lviv City Council and the ride-hailing service Uklon. In January 2024, Uklon, with the support of OKKO gas stations, launched the “Inclusive” car class for people who use wheelchairs. The Lviv City Council supported the initiative by implementing a program to compensate the cost of travel for people to make trips even more affordable. Since the service started operating, almost 5,000 trips have been completed in Lviv and the region.
