Lviv IT Cluster Hosts German Delegation to Discuss Tech Education, Startups, and International Cooperation

On August 5, Lviv IT Cluster welcomed an official delegation from the City of Freiburg, Germany, which included representatives of the city administration, the international office, industry associations, and businesses. The visit provided an opportunity to introduce the delegation to the development of Ukraine’s technology ecosystem, the Lviv IT Cluster’s key educational initiatives, and practical approaches to supporting innovation-driven businesses.

During the meeting, the Lviv IT Cluster team presented the association’s core areas of activity and highlighted the technology industry’s contribution to Ukraine’s economic development. Special emphasis was placed on the Cluster’s educational initiatives, with the team sharing its extensive experience working with universities to prepare the next generation of IT professionals.

The discussion also focused on the development of Ukraine’s startup ecosystem, support for innovative companies, and opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the Ukrainian and German technology sectors. In this context, the Lviv IT Cluster team introduced IT Arena, the largest tech conference in Ukraine and Eastern Europe, which annually brings together startup founders, investors, representatives of global technology companies, and industry leaders.

Special attention was also given to the Startup Competition, an international startup contest as part of IT Arena, which gives Ukrainian startups an opportunity to pitch their solutions to international investors, attract funding, and expand into global markets.

«It is important for us to share how Ukraine’s technology industry is developing today and the role Lviv IT Cluster plays as an association that brings together representatives of the sector. We presented our work in market research, the development of IT education, startup support, the implementation of industry initiatives, and building an ecosystem that enables Ukrainian technology companies to grow even under challenging circumstances. I believe that meetings like this are an important step towards strengthening international partnerships — not only between our organizations, but also between Lviv IT Cluster member companies and businesses and industry institutions in Germany. In the long term, this will help identify common areas of interest, facilitate the exchange of best practices, and create new opportunities for the development of innovation ecosystems in both countries,» says Mykhailo Lemak, CEO of Lviv IT Cluster.

Freiburg Mayor Martin Horn welcomed the opportunity to gain deeper insight into Ukraine’s technology sector. The delegation highlighted the association’s comprehensive approach to advancing technology education, supporting innovation, and fostering tech entrepreneurship. The meeting marked another important step toward strengthening cooperation between the technology ecosystems of Ukraine and Germany.

Lviv IT Cluster will continue expanding its international partnerships to create new opportunities for education, business development, and innovation.
