Due to the Lviv IT Cluster` initiative United for Health, mass testing for COVID-19 started in Lviv and Lviv region at the beginning of this week. Here, we summarize the number of people who were tested and the first test results.
Within the frames of the emergency project United for Health, Lviv IT Cluster raised over UAH 3 million to purchase COVID-19 tests. The first batch of tests was directed to the Department of Health in Lviv Regional State Administration, which started mass testing with express tests in Lviv region earlier this week.
More than 45 crews have been operating in all districts of Lviv region since Monday. In total, 1,470 individuals were tested. 4 cases with suspicion for COVID-19 were found. The individuals will be checked using PCR tests afterward.
In addition to the measures in the region, Lviv IT Cluster started cooperation with the city administration on launching mass testing in Lviv. During this week, 1251 people in Lviv were tested with express tests. The tests showed a positive result in 15 individuals who were then referred to take PCR tests.
“We established close cooperation with the regional and city administrations and started a crucial initiative launching mass testing of citizens for coronavirus. This gives us hope that we will be able to test as many people as possible. With the funds raised by Lviv IT Cluster, we will try to provide the city and the region with the number of express tests they need,” – comments Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO at Lviv IT Cluster.
Next week, the testing will continue in the city and the region.
