UNBROKEN Сenter and Hillel IT School Launch a Social Project to Train Specialists in Prosthetics and Rehabilitation

The UNBROKEN Center, in collaboration with Hillel IT School, has launched an educational initiative aimed at enhancing the qualifications of specialists working to restore severely wounded defenders. The first phase of the project offers free English language courses for employees of the National Rehabilitation Center.

Proficiency in English opens new opportunities for international experience, internships, and knowledge exchange. It also enables Ukrainian specialists to collaborate more effectively with colleagues from other countries, ultimately improving the quality of medical services in Ukraine, particularly in rehabilitation and prosthetics.

Currently, 17 specialists from the UNBROKEN Center are taking an English course at Hillel IT School.

“English proficiency allows our specialists to expand their professional horizons, exchange knowledge with international colleagues, and improve the quality of care we provide to patients. We are already seeing tangible results from this initiative—our specialists are gaining confidence in English communication and applying their new skills in their work,” said Vladyslav Sikhovsky, Head of the Prosthetics and Orthotics Center at UNBROKEN.

By the end of the month, an additional 10 specialists in prosthetics and physical rehabilitation will join the training.

“This project benefits not only specialists but also creates real opportunities for patients. The prosthetists and physical therapists at the UNBROKEN Center are deepening their expertise to enhance patient recovery. We believe that such initiatives will continue to expand in Ukraine, significantly impacting the rehabilitation and prosthetics sector both now and in the post-war period,” added Vadym Drumov, CEO and Co-founder of Hillel IT School.

According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, as of November 2023, more than 50,000 Ukrainians have undergone amputations due to the war. The number of people with limb loss continues to grow daily, while there remains a shortage of highly qualified specialists in rehabilitation and prosthetics. To address this, the UNBROKEN Center actively involves professionals from across Ukraine in training programs led by international specialists visiting Lviv.

As of January 2025, approximately 300 prosthetists-orthotists are working in Ukraine. To collaborate effectively with international colleagues and adopt best practices from leading experts, English proficiency is essential.

The educational project for specialists at the National Rehabilitation Center will continue throughout 2025, with plans to expand participation.
