On April 2, Sense Hub Lviv hosted the official launch of the “Marketing and Sales in IT” training program for war veterans. The program, organized by the Academy for Heroes NGO, aims to support the adaptation of defenders who seek to acquire a new profession and build a career in the IT sector.
The training will last nine months and will include learning the fundamentals of information technology, mastering essential skills in marketing, sales, and customer relations. Participants will also improve their English and take part in a one-month internship at leading IT companies, giving them a chance to gain hands-on experience and secure employment in the industry.
This program is another step toward expanding professional opportunities for veterans. During the selection process, 35 interviews were conducted, and 12 participants with the strongest English skills and basic knowledge in the field were chosen. Other candidates were added to a waitlist and will have the opportunity to join upcoming cohorts—by the end of the year, three additional veteran groups are expected to begin IT training.
Our heroes were welcomed by representatives of the government and the IT business sector. As Taras Hren, Chief of Staff of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, noted, it is important not to wait for benefits but to take responsibility for one’s own future:
“I want everyone to understand that a veteran is a person who is capable of anything. The Academy for Heroes creates the conditions for veterans to learn new things and become competitive in today’s world.”
Yuliia Hordiychuk, Deputy Head of the Lviv Center for Services to Combatants, emphasized the importance of the program for community development, stating: “Successful people build successful communities. Veterans who strive for success will undoubtedly achieve it, and this training program is one of the key tools to support them.”
Participants of the event expressed special gratitude to the leadership of the IT company EveriMatrix, which has supported this project from day one — CEO Ebbe Groes and Head of the Ukrainian division Yevhen Sedler.
According to Professor Oleksii Druhov, Head of the Academy for Heroes, the launch of this program is an important step toward building an effective support system for veterans, enabling them to realize their potential in civilian life. The organizers plan not only to continue this initiative, but also to expand it to include the children of veterans and active service members.
