Lviv IT Cluster Hands Over Second VR Simulator For Air Command West

Lviv IT Cluster has delivered a second VR simulator to the Air Defense Forces of the western region within the SKY project. It simulates the operation of the Igla-1 MANPADS system.

The SKY project has been running for almost a year in collaboration with Lviv Air Command West and the Lviv Regional Military Administration. It aims to strengthen the capabilities of the Air Defense Forces, which are responsible for protecting the skies of eight western regions of Ukraine. The Lviv IT Cluster community is actively procuring the necessary equipment, tools, and technologies to support the Air Command. This is the second VR simulator that the military has received. Its cost is 1,500,000 hryvnias. The company Intellias covered part of the expenses for its purchase. And the total cost of the SKY project exceeded 15,902,880 UAH.

“We work based on the needs of the Air Command West. Companies in the Lviv IT Cluster community actively support this project because we all understand its importance. I want to emphasize that we will support the Air Forces until victory and after it. If the military needs another simulator, we will do everything possible to meet that need,” says Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO of Lviv IT Cluster.

The VR simulator imitates the operation of the Igla-1 MANPADS system, allowing military personnel to improve their skills and practice before the mission execution. This work requires composure and confidence from military personnel. Training on such a simulator helps to acquire these qualities and maintain them at a high level, as emphasized by the Western Region Air Defense Forces. The advantage of the VR simulator its resemblance with real life missions.

“We are grateful to the tech community and Lviv Regional Military Administration for the help that brings us closer to victory. We feel this support: it is not only simulators but also equipment and gear. Thank you for responding to our requests,” adds Ihor Doroshko, Deputy Commander of the Air Command West.

“Our children and parents can feel safe thanks to the collaboration between the Lviv IT Cluster, Lviv Regional Military Administration, and the Air Command West. During the past year, Air Command has successfully eliminated numerous enemy targets due to their knowledge and skills, saving hundreds, if not thousands, of lives and critical infrastructure objects,” emphasized Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

In January, Lviv IT Cluster handed over equipment and the first VR simulator to the forces of the Western Region.
