What do little ones need more: a packet of sweets once a year or a real care every day? “Let kids move” (LKM) is an initiative of KeenEthics, which aims to preserve the health of Ukrainian schoolchildren. The company works for this purpose 365 days a year.
Some of the classic desks are replaced with standing tables so that students can dynamically alternate poses during lessons. No more back pain and the need to sit for 45 minutes without the opportunity to warm up – at any time you can get up and learn to stand. Now the main need of the initiative is funding for the purchase of new standing tables. All other costs, such as training of teachers, parents, technical support are covered by KeenEthics.
The project and the number of schools wishing to take part in it are growing by leaps and bounds, and patrons’ funds will not be enough to cover all requests. However, that’s YOU, who can give children a holiday that will last not a day or two, but over the years.
Creating good deeds is not just about St. Nicholas Day!
The initiative started the first stream of the LKM program only this year, in 2021, but already has a lot of applications for the following year: school administrations hear feedback from teachers from pilot classes and want to replicate this experience in their institutions. Children who learn with a dynamic change of posture can concentrate longer, have a better mood, and are less likely to complain of back and neck pain.
A few weeks after the start of the program, teachers noticed that students are looking forward to the opportunity to stand and sometimes even ask to change the position earlier. At home, they also prefer to stand, especially when writing and drawing. They say it makes it easier for them to focus.
