Challenges and Solutions. Lviv IT Cluster to Host an In-Person Event – IT Meets: Cybersecurity

On August 3, in Lviv, the third IT Meets conference will be held. The one-day event will focus on cybersecurity and will discuss the trends and practices needed by companies, organizations, and government agencies to protect themselves from cyberattacks.

Since the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has repelled more than 2,000 attacks on government agencies of various levels, critical infrastructure, the private sector, and civilians. As a result, the issues of information and data protection have become particularly relevant. That is why IT Meets: Cybersecurity – Lessons from the War and the Practical Dimension will focus on the latest trends in cybersecurity, defense practices against attacks, and case studies.

During IT Meets: Cybersecurity – Lessons from the War and the Practical Dimension, various topics will be discussed, including:

  • The practical dimension of the lessons from the world’s first cyber war: understanding its impact on the operations of public and private companies.
  • Exploring ways and steps to strengthen cyber defense: developing effective strategies to protect against cyber threats.
  • Analyzing trends, tendencies, and new challenges faced by the country, organizations, and cyber professionals in the ever-evolving cyber landscape.
  • Examining changes in public policy at the national and local levels, including the role of state regulation in enhancing operational capabilities for cyber defense.

The event is organized for Ukrainian cybersecurity professionals, representatives from the public sector, critical infrastructure, tech industry, and media.

Among the speakers of IT Meets: Cybersecurity are:

  • Oleksandr Potii, Deputy Head of the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine
  • Nazar Tymoshyk, SSSCIP CERT-UA Expert
  • Volodymyr Ilibman, Security Account Manager, CISCO Systems Ukraine.
  • Andrii Davydiuk, Representative of Ukraine to the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (NATO CCDCOE)
  • Oleh Derevianko, Co-Founder and Board Chair, ISSP (an international cybersecurity company)
  • Oleksandr Kulepin, Deputy Chair of the Lviv Oblast Administration for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization (CDTO)

“The war being waged in cyberspace today brings forth several problems and challenges, and it has brought to the forefront issues that seemed of secondary importance just a few years ago. With each passing day, enemy attacks in cyberspace become more inventive, complex, and dangerous. In response, IT Meets: Cybersecurity aims to go beyond discussing the current situation and instead focuses on seeking practical tools for enhancing cyber resilience in both the public sector and business,” says Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO of Lviv IT Cluster.

“Russia’s war against Ukraine has exposed the world to the potential dangers of various cyberattacks. Successful attacks on government agencies or critical infrastructure facilities can lead to the disruption of public services, shutdown of businesses, loss or leakage of important data, and more. It is crucial for us to thoroughly analyze the lessons learned from this conflict and grasp the necessary steps for cooperation to fortify our defenses in cyberspace,” emphasizes Oleksandr Potiy, Deputy Head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine.

You can buy a ticket to the event here. Participation is free of charge for representatives of central executive authorities and critical infrastructure; they can register here. Details regarding the time and location will be provided to registered participants separately.

The event is organized by Lviv IT Cluster, with the support of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine and the USAID Cybersecurity for Critical Infrastructure in Ukraine Activity
