Goals and Challenges: Lviv IT Cluster Conducts Strategy Session

On June 1, Lviv IT Cluster conducted a Strategy Session. The event gathered over 135 participants representing not only community members but also IT clusters from various cities of Ukraine, educational institutions of the city, the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and the Lviv authorities.

Today, Lviv IT Cluster is the largest association of tech companies in Ukraine, uniting over 260 member companies. The Strategy Session aimed to familiarize everyone with the updated mission and vision of the association and to establish strategic goals for the Lviv IT Cluster’s work, taking into account the current challenges faced by community members and the tech industry of the country.

The event was facilitated by Pavlo Sheremeta, an economist, founder of the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School, and former Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine. During the group work, participants focused on identifying pain points and finding solutions based on the vision points of the Lviv IT Cluster:

• A world-class technology hub
• A city for comfortable living
• The center of the best technical education in Ukraine
• The most attractive Ukrainian city for tech specialists
• A city of innovative projects and startups
• The most powerful business community

“This session is the final step in building the Lviv IT Cluster’s work strategy. Previously, we finalized our mission and vision. Today, we are outlining our goals. I am confident that the result of our work will be the launch of important projects aimed at the development of the tech industry, our city, and our country in the near future. I want to thank all the companies that dedicated this day to the Lviv IT Cluster, shared their ideas, and are ready to take responsibility for implementing our initiatives,” said Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO of Lviv IT Cluster.

The next step will be the finalization of strategic goals for the activities of Lviv IT Cluster and the development of ideas for projects and initiatives that will help achieve the main mission of our community – to contribute to transforming Lviv into a world-class innovative and investment-attractive technology hub.

During the Strategy Session, Yaryna Voznyak, Research Lead, presented the comprehensive research on salaries on the tech market, the IT Research: Salary Report. This exclusive analytics helps in smart talent management and forming appropriate offerings for clients. With the IT Research: Salary Report, one can discover the compensation ranges for over 100 tech positions based on levels, specializations, and technologies.

Furthermore, prior to the Strategy Session, the Lviv IT Cluster participated in a Strategy Session organized by the USAID Competitive Economy Program in Ukraine for key stakeholders in the Ukrainian tech industry. Participants in a closed circle discussed how to support the tech sector, maintain existing positions, overcome challenges, and generate potential hypotheses and project ideas. During the session, participants discussed pressing issues for the tech market and their solutions, including sales and exports, attracting investments and financing, and the development of human capital and talent retention.

Both Strategy Sessions became important stages in understanding the current situation of the tech industry, the challenges it faces, and what companies, clusters, and authorities can do to support and foster the growth of the sector.
