International collaboration of the Ukrainian startup is established at MEDICA 2022

The Ukrainian startup Knopka, the finalist of the IT Arena Startup Competition, who secured second place in the 2022 startup competition, has started a partnership with the Finnish ECG sensor manufacturer “Movesense,” which is already being used in the St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv. The teams of both companies met during the medical exhibition MEDICA 2022 in November of last year.

Knopka is a wireless nurse call system that serves as their personal assistant. Movesense Medical is a sensor for measuring single-channel ECG, heart rate, and motion. It is certified as a Class IIa medical device (EU MDR 2017/745).

The Knopka system automatically alerts the nurse if the Movesense sensors detect an abnormal condition in the patient. By monitoring the proximity of the medical staff to the patient’s bed, the joint solution enables immediate response and ensures timely care for patients.

The first joint pilot project of the Knopka system with Movesense sensors has been implemented in the pediatric neurosurgery department of St. Nicholas Hospital in Lviv, one of the largest medical centers in Ukraine.

“The Movesense sensors are easy to use and convenient, allowing us to instantly monitor vital signs. By integrating them into our system, we can immediately notify medical personnel if the indicators become critical and ensure a timely response to provide urgent care to the patient,” says Ivan Osadchiy, CEO of Knopka.

Knopka plans to strengthen collaboration and expand its operations in Ukraine and Poland, as well as enter new EU markets, including Finland.

“Our products form a cost-effective, scalable way to monitor patients in both fixed and temporary installations. This will help care providers save lives both in Ukraine and in other markets that need effective patient monitoring,” confirms Jussi Kaasinen, CEO of Movesense.
