IT Meets AI: New Roles, Cyber Risks, and ROI — How AI Is Reshaping Business

On May 28, IT Meets AI — a professional conference by Lviv IT Cluster — took place at Promprylad in Ivano-Frankivsk. Founders, executives, and industry leaders came together to discuss how AI is reshaping roles, operations, and ways of working — and what separates hype from meaningful impact.

AI is changing roles, not replacing people

The event opened with a panel discussion featuring representatives from UnidataLab, ELEKS, SoftServe, DataArt, and Geniusee, exploring the transformation of the labor market. AI proves most effective in tasks driven by clear logic, structured workflows, and established solution patterns.

Problem-solving, deep expertise, and trust-building remain fundamentally human strengths. Among the skills becoming increasingly critical are prompt engineering, context engineering, working with AI agents, and building effective “memory” frameworks to generate high-quality outputs. Speakers also highlighted the “efficiency paradox”: AI tools do not replace human expertise — they depend on it.

Operations, service, and back office: where AI delivers real value

Iryna Dekhtiaruk, Head of Partnerships at Vchasno Group, shared practical insights into AI transformation across operational and customer-facing processes. Her key takeaway is that AI delivers the strongest results where processes are already well-structured. In such environments, automation reduces routine workload and streamlines operational efficiency. However, output quality depends not only on the tool itself, but also on context, access to relevant information, and well-designed interaction between humans and systems.

The speaker also demonstrated practical applications of AI tools within the Vchasno ecosystem — from operational task management to data and service process automation. Based on hands-on cases from partner companies, participants explored how AI is integrated into everyday business operations and creates measurable value.

Isolated AI experiments don’t always lead to impact

Yurii Holiuk, CTO at Mate Academy, addressed the gap between AI adoption and actual business transformation. While most companies have introduced AI tools in their daily work, in many cases, their use remains fragmented, with limited impact on overall business outcomes.

The speaker emphasized that automation is increasingly extending into complex workflows. As a result, the ability to understand limitations of Artificial Intelligence, delegate tasks effectively, and rethink processes — rather than simply adding new tools to existing routines — is becoming essential.

ROI: Measuring the impact of AI investments

Speakers from Keenethics, Devlight, EPAM, Ucloud, and newage discussed how organizations can evaluate AI initiatives and make informed investment decisions.

The main takeaway: AI is not a short-term trend, which means experimentation should start now — while documenting failures, learning from them, and identifying practical use cases. Success should be measured not only through ROI and financial KPIs, but also through time savings, process acceleration, and operational impact. AI creates particular value in managing large-scale datasets and enabling personalization.

AI as a new cyber risk factor: what businesses need to know

Vitalii Korotynskyi, Head of Partnerships at Alerts Bar Inc., spoke about the evolving cybersecurity landscape in the AI era. Among the emerging threats he outlined were click-fix attacks, AI deepfakes, the scaling of infostealers, the growth of AI botnets, and the expanding darknet economy.

He emphasized that AI is being increasingly used not only to protect corporate data, but also as a tool for attackers — making it crucial for companies to consider these risks when integrating new technologies. A recurring theme across the conference was the enduring importance of human expertise. Despite the growing adoption of AI, outcomes still depend on human judgment, understanding of processes, contextual awareness, and the ability to work effectively with innovative tools.

The event concluded with networking and continued discussions among conference participants.

On June 25, IT Meets: Women in Tech will take place in Kyiv, focusing on growth, influence, and leadership in women’s careers. The event will explore career transitions, internal barriers, and the realities that often remain behind the scenes of success stories.
