Lviv IT Cluster Donates Equipment to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine

The Lviv IT Cluster continues to support the Armed Forces, government agencies, and local and regional authorities. On March 8th, the IT community donated equipment and machinery to one of the units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.

The rescuers of the Second State Fire and Rescue Unit of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv region have received equipment and machinery to help extinguish fires. In particular, this includes three Flir K2 thermal imaging cameras. This unit also eliminates the consequences of enemy attacks in Lviv.

“This equipment will greatly assist us in our efforts to extinguish fires. Specifically, thermal imaging cameras can identify areas with the highest temperature, even when the source of the fire is not immediately visible due to smoke. This is crucial information that enables rescuers to focus their attention and efforts where they are most needed. We are extremely grateful to the IT community for their support in helping the State Emergency Service of Ukraine better serve and protect the public,” says Roman Aleshko, the head of the Second State Fire and Rescue Unit of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Lviv region.

Vector Software, the Lviv IT Cluster member-company, is the driving force behind the initiative to support the emergency workers.

“We discussed within the company who else we could help and concluded that it would be good to support our emergency workers, who have been facing difficult and dangerous situations since the start of the full-scale invasion. We participate in numerous projects by the Lviv IT Cluster, so we reached out to the community for their assistance in the initiative. As a result, the unit’s employees have already received everything they need,” adds Ihor Vershinin, CEO of Vector Software.

“The Lviv IT Cluster continues to work towards bringing our victory closer. Today there is a great emphasis on supporting those directly on the front line. But it is important to remember those working in the rear. In particular, our emergency workers who are dealing with the aftermath of collapses and destruction caused by rocket attacks,” emphasized Yuriy Ohonovsky, Deputy CEO of the Lviv IT Cluster.

In March 2022, in response to the start of the full-scale invasion, Lviv IT Cluster launched a series of Victory Projects aimed at supporting business, military, critical and civilian infrastructure, as well as reinforcing the region’s security.
