Lviv IT Cluster Honored For Supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense awarded the IT Cluster on Wednesday, bestowing honor on strengthening the defense capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, supporting the Lviv Military Administration, and providing aid to those harmed by invasion.

The Medal, named “For the Supporting The Armed Forces of Ukraine”, was awarded to recognise significant contribution, particularly the provision of comprehensive assistance to personnel of military units and subdivisions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Since the very beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Lviv IT Cluster has been actively engaged in projects helping support the country’s war efforts. The initiative, named Victory Projects, aimed at helping thousands of servicemen, providing temporaily housing for tens of thousands displaced by war, backing up IT infrastructure for hundreds of companies, as well as maintaining business sustainability and increasing security in several regions of Ukraine.

Second Home is one of the first projects within the Victory Projects. The IT Cluster has set up 7 centers that accomodate temporarily displaced people, providing 1,200 beds and 25,000 free lunches. Since February, more than 11,000 people have taken refuge in our centers, including more than 4,000 IT professionals.

The Vision project envisages expanding the functionality of the centralized video surveillance system in the Lviv region to ensure law and order and strengthen the defense of the country. The IT Cluster is currently funding the purchase of high-precision vehicle detection and facial recognition software.

Armor is an initiative to purchase 1,000 bulletproof vests of 4+ protection class for the military, special services, and special forces soldiers who defend our country at the forefront. Thanks to this initiative, we were able to purchase 750 means of protection, of which 650 were given to soldiers serving in the area of Mykolayiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Popasna, Kramatorsk, and others. Negotiations are underway for supplying another 250 sets of protective ammunition.

The Sky project involves the technical modernization of the command and analytical centers of the Air Command “West”. Improvements include a complete replacement of existing computer equipment, network equipment and screens for displaying navigation systems. In the second stage, within the project, it is planned to modernize the Command’s operational centers in eight regions of the western Ukraine.

Lviv IT Cluster also purchased a large batch of Starlink terminals for the critical infrastructure of western Ukraine, in particular in Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Zakarpattia regions. So with the satellite receivers, we can ensure the viability of Ukrainian businesses. It’s a trust signal for clients that Ukrainian companies we’ll still be able to communicate, even if they break the cell towers or somehow cut the landlines.

We would like to thank all companies and partners who joined Victory Projects. This is our joint award for the daily efforts in helping Ukraine win the war!
