Continuing to advance technical education in Ukraine, Lviv IT Cluster is introducing three new bachelor’s degree programs at Lviv Polytechnic National University. These programs cover Computer Engineering, Virtual Reality Systems, and Applied Mathematics & Computer Science, and were developed jointly with experts from our association’s member tech companies as part of the IT Expert project.

Bachelor’s Degree Program in Virtual Reality Systems (F3)
The Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies at Lviv Polytechnic National University is opening enrollment for the new Virtual Reality Systems educational program. Graduates of this program will be prepared for careers across AR and VR, from opportunities in game development to creating transformative tools for healthcare, education, manufacturing, and creative industries.
Students will learn how to create virtual worlds, master 3D modeling, and choose between two tracks: Digital Entertainment Technologies or XR Solutions for Enterprises.
“This is future-oriented education for those who want to work in VR/AR, game development, digital transformation, and startups. The curriculum is ideal for creative, technically minded young people who want to combine programming, design, analytics, and innovation,” says Uliana Marikutsa, Head of the Virtual Reality Systems Department.
The program was developed in close collaboration with tech companies Gameloft, tsukat, and Stepico. From the first semester, students will work in teams, develop projects, participate in hackathons, and attend guest lectures from industry professionals.

Bachelor’s Degree Program in Computer Engineering (F7)
The demand for computer engineering specialists is on the rise, as they create solutions shaping the digital world. They design, test, and maintain computer systems, create embedded devices, improve data networks, and implement solutions using IoT and AI. In Ukraine, there is a notable shortage of such experts, as the field requires deep knowledge in both software and hardware, as well as strong foundations in mathematics and electronics. According to IT Research Ukraine 2024, only 8.3% of specialists work in the Hardware & IoT domain.
The Computer Engineering bachelor’s degree program at Lviv Polytechnic covers the entire spectrum of knowledge future engineers need. Students will learn programming fundamentals and develop system and application software. This comprehensive training will enable graduates to work in fields related to the design, manufacturing, maintenance, and configuration of computer systems and networks.
“The program provides fundamental knowledge about computer systems — both hardware and software. In the first years, students study both areas, which is a significant advantage,” emphasizes Roman Kochan, Head of the Specialized Computer Systems Department.
The program will be delivered at the Institute of Computer Technologies, Automation and Metrology. Senior- and Lead-level experts from GlobalLogic, Infineon, and Renesas contributed to developing the curriculum.

Bachelor’s Degree Program in Applied Mathematics & Computer Science (F1)
This program prepares specialists capable of solving complex tasks in programming, mathematical modeling, and analytics. Students will gain fundamental skills that open career opportunities in various industries, including tech, business, finance, healthcare, energy, logistics, and more.
“The modern world is extremely fast-paced, new technologies emerge and disappear quickly, and the volume of information multiplies, often containing misinformation. To thrive in this world, you need a strong foundation, a commitment to lifelong learning, and the ability to analyze and use large volumes of data. Our program is an effective combination of solid mathematical training and practical tech skills,” notes Bohdan Markovych, Head of the Applied Mathematics Department.
After graduation, students will be able to work as software developers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, DevOps engineers, and more. According to IT Research Ukraine 2024, software developers make up nearly half of all tech talent in Ukraine — 42.8%. The research also shows that only 1% of professionals work in Deep Tech, despite the high demand. According to DOU statistics, the demand for AI/ML specialists in the first half of 2025 increased by 115% compared to the second half of 2024.
The program was developed by industry experts from Axles, CHI Software, Euristiq, RedTag, and SoftServe.

In partnership with universities in Lviv and Kyiv, Lviv IT Cluster launched five new undergraduate programs this year: three at Lviv Polytechnic and two at Kyiv Aviation Institute.
More than half of these programs focus on hardware disciplines — electronics, computer engineering, and robotics. These specializations, which combine tech, engineering, and national security fields, will play a key role in the country’s recovery.
Additionally, this year, the Lviv IT Cluster’s education team, together with partners, has completely updated the bachelor’s program in Robotics at the Department of Information-Measuring Technologies at Lviv Polytechnic.
“For nine years in a row, we at Lviv IT Cluster have been working to ensure that young people receive modern, high-quality education that meets the real demands of Ukraine’s tech market. From their first year, students in our bachelor’s degree programs work in teams under the guidance of experienced mentors from the tech sector, create their own projects, and complete internships at leading tech companies. We want young people to gain not only theoretical knowledge but also entrepreneurial skills and practical experience from the best industry professionals. This way, the next generation starts to learn about corporate culture and bring their ideas to life while still studying, and the experts involved in mentoring also grow professionally,” comments Julia Tsymbala, Education Lead at Lviv IT Cluster.
Today, Lviv IT Cluster supports 24 bachelor’s programs at universities in Lviv and Kyiv. These cover all major areas of the tech industry, including non-technical specializations.
