The annual Lviv IT Jazz Conference that takes place during Leopolis Jazz Fest and brings together business leaders, investors, and government officials to discuss key issues of the IT industry has been postponed due to the spread of COVID-19.
Lviv IT Jazz takes place during the largest jazz festival in Ukraine Leopolis Jazz Fest, where Lviv IT Cluster has been one of the partners and sponsors for many years. This year, IT Jazz was scheduled for June 26. The 10th Leopolis Jazz Festival was planned for June 25-29, 2020 in Lviv. According to the organizers, the new festival dates are June 24-28, 2021, accordingly.
“In the middle of every difficulty lies opportunity,” as Albert Einstein argued, and we found this opportunity ‒ not to cancel the 10th jubilee festival but to postpone it for a year. Preparations for Lviv Jazz Fest 2021 have started, and we have been negotiating with musicians. We hope that we will manage to implement the 2020 agenda in 2021,” said Leopolis Jazz Fest art director Oleksiy Kohan.
“We have postponed the Lviv IT Jazz Conference, which is aimed at strengthening collaboration between the tech industry and the public sector, as it is now vital to be responsible and take care of the health and well-being of our close ones and the residents of our city and country. Therefore, our organizing committee has been actively working on the United for Health initiative to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and help Lviv and the region combat the pandemic,” says Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO at Lviv IT Cluster.
As a reminder, last year, Lviv IT Jazz took place on June 28 at Lem Station social hub, Vitovskoho Street, 57. The event brought together about 200 IT entrepreneurs, investors, politicians, and international experts to discuss the development of tech entrepreneurship in Ukraine and prospects for business in Ukraine. Two projects essential for the Ukrainian IT industry were presented during the event: future residents of Innovation District IT Park in Lviv signed the contracts and the first angel investor club in Lviv, Lviv Tech Angels, was founded.
In an informal atmosphere accompanied by jazz music, Lviv IT Jazz attendees participated in panel discussions with Pavlo Sheremeta, founder of Proryv.in.ua and a member of the Supervisory Board of Raiffeisen Bank Aval, Danylo Bilak, Head of the Supervisory Board of UkraineInvest, Marina Petrov, EBRD Deputy Head in Ukraine and others.
