Mental Health Center Supported by Lviv IT Cluster and its Members Opens in Lviv

On October 5, the Lviv IT Cluster together with the Lviv City Council and the First Medical Association of Lviv opened the Mental Health Center. The institution employs psychotherapists, psychiatrists and psychologists who provide assistance to the military, internally displaced people and everyone who needs mental health support in such a difficult time.

The cost of creating the Mental Health Center reaches more than 5,500,000 UAH. Lviv IT Cluster and member companies covered the costs related to repair works and equipment of the center. One of the biggest benefactors of the project became JustAnswer, a member company of Lviv IT Cluster.

“This place is amazing. When you came up with this idea few months ago, it sounded perfect. In the US it would have taken years, not months. This makes me so proud and hopeful that if the Ukrainian people can build something like this in mere months, they could defeat russians.. And we can rebuild this country to be one of the superpowers in the world,” says Andy Kurtzig, CEO of JustAnswer.

Two more Lviv IT Cluster member companies, DataArt and Tietoevry, has also contributed to the launch of the Mental Health Center. As a sign of gratitude, all companies received Letters of Appreciation from the Lviv City Council.

“We are pleased to be part of such an important initiative. It is very important for our company to support Ukrainians in this difficult time,” says Ivan Korzhov, Country manager of Infopulse part of Tietoevry.

“From the first day of the full-scale invasion, Lviv IT Cluster and its member companies have been actively supporting the country and joining important projects that help thousands of Ukrainians and bring our victory closer,” adds Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO of Lviv IT Cluster. “The topic of mental health is extremely important today. We have a lot of work and challenges ahead of us, and this requires a lot of internal resources. I am confident that the Mental Health Center will become the place where our military, their families and all those who need it can receive the needed support and recover.”

Anyone can make a free appointment at the Mental Health Center through a referral from a GP. Consultations without a referral are paid, but their cost is lower than in private mental health clinics. The Center offers twelve rooms for individual appointments and a room for group therapy. Mental Health Center already employs eight specialists with a focus on the treatment of anxiety, neurotic and psychosomatic disorders, eating disorders, panic attacks, etc.

“In my opinion, millions of people will need psychological rehabilitation after the end of the war. Today in Lviv, we are building a whole system of such centers to help everyone who needs it. The support of such projects by the tech sector is highly important,” adds Andriy Sadovyi, Mayor of Lviv.

Mental Health Center operates within the ambulatory clinical center at the First Medical Association of Lviv. Address: 25 Ivana Mazepy St., Lviv. It is part of a large initiative to build the National Rehabilitation Center “Unbroken.”
