Сharity Fund “Open Eyes”, founded by SoftServe, has announced its intention to equip Positive Room 3.0 in the Lviv City Children’s Clinical Hospital neurosurgery and neurology departments, Lviv, P. Orlik street, 4.
The Positive Room is a bright, comfortable and functional space for children undergoing long-term care in hospitals. To prevent children from staying one to one with the disease and not to feel detached from ordinary life, the room has 4 zones: creative, playing, reading and educational with specially selected children’s toys and educational materials.
“The peculiarity of treatment of such patients is prolonged hospital stay, in some cases up to 2-3 months. At this time, most children get a high psycho-emotional load, which negatively affects their recovery, leads to a lag in the educational process. The “Positive Room” will be staffed by a psychologist, rehabilitation therapist and teachers, also children will be able to spend time with their parents. All that will significantly reduce stress and facilitate faster recovery of patients,” said Dmytro Kvit, Chief Doctor of Lviv City Children’s Clinical Hospital.
“Together with our partners, we designed a comfortable space for children to recover faster, catch up with the school curriculum, and receive positive emotions during this difficult time for them. We tried to reflect all this in the planning of Positive Room 3.0, – comments Victoria Mishchuk, Project Coordinator of Сharity Fund “Open Eyes”. – Over the 2 years project, we have gained some experience in creating such spaces for children in hospitals, so we are convinced that the new one, Lviv “Positive Room” will bring a lot of benefits to the children, their parents, and to the hospital staff as well.”
The SoftServe’s Сharity Fund “Open Eyes” Positive Room project started in October 2017. The Fund firstly equipped the Positive Room at the Wroclaw Children’s Clinic for Endocrinology and Diabetes (Poland) in conjunction with Pozytywne.com and partners. The idea to create such a room came from the SoftServe development center in Wroclaw staff. The SoftServe workers came to the fund with a willingness to help with this request. After a successful project implementation, the Fund decided to embody it in Ukraine. Since then 4 such rooms have been created.
