“Tempered Hearts” and EPAM Ukraine Raise Funds for 100 Cars for the Defense Forces

EPAM Ukraine and the NGO “Tempered Hearts” have been sending evacuation vehicles to the front lines since June 2022. Pickup trucks are needed to save the lives of defenders and civilians on the front lines, liberated territories, and in gray areas. By the end of the year, 100 cars are planned to have been handed over as part of the “Tempered Hundred” (“Загартована сотня”) project.

“The closer it is to the contact line, the greater the scale of the humanitarian disaster is. The need for quick evacuation of the wounded, who happened to be in the places of hostilities, is growing. The cars we provide have a wide range of applications: they transport both people and goods. A vivid example is the situation in the Kherson region. There, after the explosion of the Kakhovska HPP, thanks to the pickup truck, we managed to evacuate more than 30 people who had difficulty moving on their own,” says volunteer Oleksandr Tsarevsky, a representative of the Tempered Hearts NGO.

In almost a year, EPAM spent more than UAH 16 million on cars, thus 60 cars were purchased, repaired and handed over. At “Tempered Hearts” they tell us that usually used cars are bought in Germany and Britain, then delivered to Vinnytsia, where they are inspected and repaired at a technical service station. Mostly volunteers choose pickup trucks. It takes about one or two weeks to repair one car. They use high-quality spare parts, because human lives depend on the reliability of the cars at the front.

“As part of the “Tempered Hundred” project, pickups have already been delivered to more than 50 divisions in the southern and eastern directions. Thanks to these cars, thousands of people have received help, – says Dmytro Yakymets, head of the corporate social responsibility department at EPAM Ukraine. – We keep up this initiative and invite everyone who wants to join it. Together, we will be able to provide the defense forces with cars faster and, accordingly, save more lives.”
