The story of the partnership between Digis and Scalamandra: why the companies united under Digis Group

Digis is an international software development company founded in 2015 by Nick Nagatkin (listed in Forbes 30 under 30 Europe Tech). Digis, which began as a company founded by high school friends, has evolved into a team of 200 professionals in software development, specializing in end-to-end product development and outstaffing services. Among Digis’ clients, you can find notable names such as PwC, BlaBlaCar, HubSpot, Huma, and others.

As part of Digis growth and expansion over the past 3 years, the team started building a network of niche agencies, specializing in specific technologies / services industries to strengthen the boutique offering. 

The decision to form a strategic partnership with Scalamandra was driven by Nick’s personal investment in the company in 2023. The idea behind the partnership is to offer functional programming services to existing and potential clients, besides other services, as well as to help these companies transform to other languages once needed. 

Scalamandra was founded by Illia Podavalkin in 2020, during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The company specializes in providing Scala engineers for IT product development and Big Data. The name “Scalamandra” combines the favorite programming language, Scala, with the name of a lizard known for its regenerative abilities—reflecting the company’s resilience during economic challenges. The company has its own training center that helps developers reach intermediate and advanced levels. Additionally, it supports the “Salamandra” fund, which focuses on the conservation of amphibians and their habitats.
