“We support the University and technical faculties because this is one of the values of our company. We have invested in education development of Ukraine, especially if it concerns future IT specialists,” shares Vakoms co-owner Andriy Shevchyk.
“This is our home faculty, as we studied there. A lot of engineers, who studied there, work at Vakoms. We know that students have a very effective curriculum there and get good theoretical, and practical knowledge. We are ready to help in programming education, and we keep going.” added Pavlo Peleh, co-owner of the company.
The most important points which the Faculty and Vakoms created, implemented, and organized together are:
Courses were founded in 2009 with the aim of supporting the younger generation and helping them gain knowledge for free.
The classes are conducted by employees of IT companies who have real experience and are able to teach and transfer knowledge to young specialists on a free basis.
Together with the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technologies, Vakoms held boot camps, which help students train for upcoming work challenges.
The Vakoms company has many specialists who came precisely through the camp and are still working in our company in senior positions!
Vakoms assisted with the renovation/update of the furniture for the System Design Department of the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technologies. Some of the furniture and equipment were used for the IT laboratory with Data Science & Machine Learning, some of which was used in other premises, in particular teaching premises.
For many years, Vakoms has sponsored the annual FOSS LVIV conference
Last year, in October, Vakoms helped open an IoT laboratory for students of technical faculties. The IoT laboratory is equipped with new Mac computers and development boards for designing IoT solutions. There is also an engineering workplace for the assembly of electronics and a 3D printer for creating the design of device cases and the ability to switch to distance learning quickly.
The resources of a new Internet of Things laboratory help students develop their own projects and go through the entire development process, from programming the “iron” to creating a mobile application for interaction with this “iron” and uploading the application to the App Store and Play Market.
Recently, the Faculty of Electronics and Computer Technology celebrated its 20th anniversary. At the ceremony, the heads of the faculty appreciated the Vakoms company for many years of cooperation and support.
