Second-year Students of Vocational School №29 Present their First Project

On March 7, second-year students of Vocational School №29 presented their first projects – chatbots for the school as part of the VO-Tech School project, and on March 25, the school held an Open Day.

The students of the updated program “Information Processing and Software Operator” presented their first development a chatbot for the school. Three teams shared the results of their work, which lasted more than a semester. The projects were evaluated by jury members, representatives of the tech industry.

The presentation took place at Sigma Software, one of the project partners. In addition, a tour of the company’s office was organized for the students.

“When we were updating this curriculum at Vocational School №29, I dreamed that we would have a defense of the work like I saw today. Therefore, I am very pleased and you all are great! This is just the start of your journey in tech, so do not relax, because working in a tech company requires constant learning and self-improvement,” Ivan Babiychuk, Vice President of Engineering at EduNav, member of the Supervisory Board of Lviv IT Cluster, praised the students.

On March 25, the educational institution also held an Open Day, where visitors could see the modernized classrooms and talk to students of the updated program.

The Open Day was held for students and parents who want to learn more about the curriculum and admission requirements.

Myroslava Oseredchuk, L&D manager at Sigma Software, spoke about trends in the tech industry and shared the specifics of working in the IT field. Students and teachers also conducted a tour of the school’s dormitory for everyone.

“The curriculum at Vocational School №29 opens up great opportunities in the tech industry, as we gain both theoretical and practical knowledge of programming and other related disciplines from specialists from tech companies. By the way, we recently had the opportunity to share the results of our development and present our Telegram bot to representatives of IT companies – it was an unforgettable experience that will be useful in the future,” says Snizhana Tyman, a second-year student at Vocational School №29.

In 2021, Lviv IT Cluster began the transformation of vocational education and launched the Vo-Tech School project, a new type of vocational education institution for training tech professionals.

Representatives of the tech industry, business, city, and regional authorities joined the transformation of the program. This cooperation resulted in the creation of a unique training program aimed at meeting market demands. Just three years after starting the studies, students of the program can find a job in tech.

Teachers, who also work in the tech industry, conduct classes in a way that allows students to use the acquired knowledge to quickly join the future team in an IT company and be ready to work on projects.

Graduates of the updated curriculum will acquire sufficient knowledge in software development, testing, and web development, as well as master teamwork skills and professional English.

Studying at the Vocational School №29 takes two years and ten months. After graduation, the student could start work in the tech industry or continue studying in one of the 19 programs updated by the Lviv IT Cluster at four universities in Lviv.
