Vocational School №29, in collaboration with the Lviv IT Cluster, is launching advanced IT training courses starting on June 3rd. This educational initiative is part of the Vo-Tech School project, aimed at transforming vocational education institutions through cooperation with the Lviv IT Cluster.
The first attendees of the courses will be students enrolled in the Information Processing and Software Operator program at Vocational School №29. This program was recently updated by the Lviv IT Cluster in collaboration with representatives from tech companies. Starting in September, the courses will open to anyone interested in delving deeper into technical specialties and exploring the modern technologies and tools essential for work in the tech industry.
“We are starting another project to develop vocational education in the tech industry. Three years ago, in collaboration with the Lviv IT Cluster, we launched an initiative to modernize the educational program for ‘Information Processing and Software Operator’ program. Today, we are launching a project for short-term, three-month courses that offer advanced study of individual educational programs at our Educational and Practical Center for Information Technology. Currently, we have five groups for different programs. In the future, we plan to increase the number of programs and conduct these courses on a permanent basis,” says Roman Stetskyi, Vocational School №29 principal.
The initial stage of the project includes 5 training programs in various fields of information technology:
Experienced specialists from leading tech companies from the Lviv IT Cluster community, will serve as instructors. The courses, lasting three months, will be conducted in a hybrid format, combining both theoretical and practical knowledge. A key highlight is the opportunity for students to visit Lviv IT Cluster member companies, allowing them to immerse themselves in a professional environment and experience the atmosphere of working in tech.
“This is a unique example of high-quality information technology training being conducted within a state vocational education institution. These advanced courses offer students an excellent opportunity to better understand the diversity of professions in tech. The training programs allow them to explore different fields within the tech industry, which is incredibly broad. As a result, students will gain valuable knowledge and insights into which specific tech profession suits them best. At Lviv IT Cluster, we have been systematically working on improving technical education for over eight years because we believe it is key to the industry’s development,” says Stepan Veselovskyi, CEO of Lviv IT Cluster.
The courses will commence at the Educational and Practical Center for Information and Computer Technologies at Vocational School №29, established in 2023. This center is the first information technology-oriented educational and practical center within Ukraine’s vocational education system. Among its facilities are two modern computer labs for future tech specialists, created with the support of Lviv IT Cluster.
Lviv IT Cluster has supported Vocational School №29 since 2021. With the community’s assistance, the school modernized the educational program for the “Information Processing and Software Operator” specialty. This allowed students to learn from experts from leading tech companies in Lviv. Representatives from the tech industry, business, and city and regional authorities joined in transforming the program. This collaboration resulted in a unique tech program based in the vocational school. This year marks the graduation of the first cohort of students from this updated program.
